Something mAAgic’s 10th Annual WishFlight took off from multiple airports across the country to take 20 children and their families to a dream vacation in Orlando.
All the families began their voyage with a celebration hosted by Something mAAgic Foundation volunteers. Pre-departure festivities only got things started, as the good times just kept rolling upon their arrival in Orlando.
Washington, D.C. had the pleasure of hosting seven-year-old Ashleigh. Employees secured a list of Ashleigh's favorite things to do, colors, foods, etc., and used the items to decorate the ticket counter and gate areas for a very personalized send off. Ashleigh was greeted at the gate by many cheering customers and employees and music by her fav, Britney Spears.
Tulsa employees' event to support the Something mAAgic Foundation turned out to be a tremendous success. Volunteers from the Agent, Fleet Service Clerk and Maintenance organizations worked all night to set up and decorate the gate.
On the opposite coast, Seattle employees gave WishFlight kids a memorable send off complete with colorful balloons and banners, and a big cake, along with Danish pastries donated by catering.
Selena and her sister Kayleena were especially surprised when they were presented with a backpack from SEA employees that was chock full of fun toys and disposable cameras. They started taking pictures of everything!
In Portland, seven-year-old Cameron traveled with nine-year-old sister, Alynna and their parents.
Portland General Manager Roy Gammon said that the kids, as well as employees had a blast on Friday. The day began with treats at the gate, including Krispy Kreme donuts, coffee and juice donated by Gate Gourmet.
Brookstone donated a digital camera for the family to use, and InMotion Videos provided Portable DVD player and Movies for family to enjoy on their journey.
Frito Lay sent their sly representative -- Chester Cheetah. Chester gave Cameron and Alynna Chester Cheetah stuffed animals and a large bag of Frito Lay treats.
San Antonio was privileged to participate in the 10th annual Wishflight. Trinidad and his family were overwhelmed at the festivities the station planned for them.
Trinidad was given his own special safety vest with his name on it and along with his brother helped to marshal in the flight that took them to Dallas.
Two trucks from the Fire Department provided a sendoff complete with sirens and a water cannon salute. The San Antonio Employees showed the true spirit of teamwork in helping make a wish come true for three-year-old Trinidad.
Next came Daelynn from Tulsa, Trinidad from San Antonio, and Traven from Northwest Arkansas.
Double Bubble, a clown from Merry Makers, assisted in the festivities at the gate for the next few hours. She made balloons for all children in the area, did magic tricks, and entertained all age groups.
Four more departed for Orlando-- Kelley from Phoenix, Malik from Memphis, Cameron from Portland and Baylee from Vancouver, Canada.
The last Wish family, with Selena, left Dallas/Fort Worth at 4 p.m. for Orlando and a seven-day adventure of a lifetime.
