Mission Statement

The Something mAAgic Foundation® Inc., a non-profit organization run by current and former employees of American Airlines, American Eagle and American Airlines Federal Credit Union (AAFCU), supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and the Give Kids The World Village® by raising funds to enhance the fulfillment of wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Vision

The Something mAAgic teams are determined to generate enough support to make it possible to fulfill a “wish come true” for a new deserving child every year in key cities served by American Airlines and American Eagle.

History of the Foundation

Something mAAgic was created in August 1996 when a group of friends at American Airlines recognized an opportunity for a grassroots campaign to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. American Airlines is a long-time supporter of wish kids, and the founders of Something mAAgic believed they could assist the corporate effort by organizing volunteers in cities served by American Airlines and American Eagle. By October 1996, “mAAgic teams” were formed in 12 cities. Members of each team launched a simple solicitation for funds and raised $10,000 in just a matter of weeks. The following year, the teams raised more than $30,000 in donations. In November 1998, the group launched its successful “12 Days of mAAgic™” fundraiser. Since then, Something mAAgic has expanded its network of volunteers and enhanced hundreds of wishes for children from all over the world. The mAAgic teams currently coordinate American Airline’s WishFlight™ each year. In sum, more than $1,000,000 cash and in kind donations has been raised to provide grants and wish enhancements for children in Canada, Europe, Latin America and the United States. In October 2000, the organization became the Something mAAgic Foundation, Inc.®. The group now also lends support to the Give Kids The World Village™ in Florida.
