WishFlight™
The first annual trip took off in 1996, a joint effort by American Airlines and the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. The two organizations wanted to provide a vacation to Orlando, Florida for children with life-threatening medical conditions and their families. Originally, WishFlightTM chartered one plane to fly wish kids and their families to sunny Orlando. In 2002, a new tradition began, and WishFlightTM participants were able to depart straight from their hometowns.
Upon arriving in Florida, WishFlightTM passengers are warmly greeted by welcoming parties. The normally dull terminals transform into a world of magicians and clowns and mark the beginning of a weeklong celebration at Walt Disney World® and the Give Kids The World Village®. American Airlines®, American Eagle®, and American Airlines Federal Credit Union® employees join with dozens of volunteers to make WishFlightTM a memorable and exciting experience for everyone involved.
WishFlight™ 2007 marked the 12th year of bringing a world of joy to an inspiring group of young people and their families.
